Chris Gildon, R-Puyallup, was sworn in today as the 25th Legislative District’s new state senator.
Gildon has been a member of the Washington State House of Representatives since 2019 and succeeds Hans Zeiger, who was elected to the Pierce County Council.
“I’m proud to continue serving the constituents of the 25th legislative district,” Gildon said. “It is a great honor to follow in the footsteps of Hans Zeiger and Bruce Dammeier. I will carry on their tradition promoting sensible policy and being a voice of reason. I look forward to representing the interests of the entire 25th District.”
Prior to his legislative service, Gildon spent 23 years in the U.S. Army. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Texas and holds two master’s degrees in public administration and strategic security studies. He and his wife Autumn have been married for 27 years and have two adult children.
When the 2021 legislative session convenes on Monday, Jan. 11, Gildon will begin serving on the Senate’s Human Services, Reentry and Rehabilitation Committee, Housing and Local Government Committee, Rules Committee and its budget-writing Ways and Means Committee. He will also serve as the Senate Republican deputy floor leader.
