Prison Alarm Bells! Join me tomorrow to learn more

Prison alarm bells: five years of failure at the Department of Corrections and what Washington can do about it

I’d like to invite you to join me and two of my colleagues tomorrow (Wednesday, September 15) at 10 a.m. as we release Prison alarm bells: five years of failure at the Department of Corrections and what Washington can do about it.

As you may remember, between 2002 and 2015 the Washington state Department of Corrections (DOC) was responsible for the unintentional early release of about 3,000 inmates convicted of violent crimes.

Following an investigation, the Senate Law and Justice Committee released a report in 2016 that identified a number of issues and outlined recommendations for improvement.

This report takes a hard look at departmental actions since that initial report and provides a number of recommendations moving forward.

I look forward to seeing you then.
